Helga Keller was born in a tiny village in Belgium. So how does this beginning translate into one of Canada's largest restoration supply businesses? Well even in a tiny Belgium village in the 70's there was a Vette? It belonged to her teacher and Helga remembers the kids vying for rides. As a matter of fact there was a lot of hot North American cars running around, brought over by the Armed Sevices Men. Little did she know then that 30 some years later, in a different country half way around the world she would not only own them, but helping others to restore them. You see, Helga liked cars even as a child. When her first boyfriend had a Corvair of dubious quality, she learned how to work on them. Her first lesson was how to kick start it. He was too cheap to buy a battery! Well, many cool cars came and went until she got tired of searching all over for parts. It was decided that she could do it better and cheaper. All the parts you need in one place, no customs hassels, no crazy UPS charges, and a real warranty. In 1990 she decided to give it a try. She started with one small add and a living room full of parts. She now has over 2500 square feet of warehouse and four staff. Her philosophy has not changed. She sells everything but mechanical parts, but if you are having trouble finding it, let her know and she'll always help. Her company imports it's own products from various countries so you never have exchange rates or customs to worry about, and should there be a problem yours or hers, she'll make sure it's picked up, and made right. Goods are always shipped the cheapest, yet fastest way possible. Price? Well lets just say that since 1990 sales have always increased, and you can't do that in this business without the best prices and best service because we all shop around. Many people start small hobby businesses, some do all right, most fail. Helga's devotion has created a full time business that has grown far beyond everyones expectations, even hers. How do I know? I owned that old Corvair, and have worked with her ever since. She taught me to do it right the first time, with the right parts, and never pay too much for them. I was with her when she bought her first vehicle, a 1973 Chev. pickup, and I drove her to pick up her latest, a new Vette Roadster. Now she is the one giving rides in the vette, ask her, she'll probably give you one too. Todd Keller |
